Paul and Angie Hibbert trekked up the mountain last weekend and shared some great pictures with us. (Thanks, you two!)

We heard the collective sighs of relief at the sight of all that greenery, but for those of you looking forward to the snowy challenge, we've got you covered! As of Monday, June 14, 2010, this is what it looked like around Checkpoint 2!

Kusam Korrespondent Bill West-Sells (who snapped that snowy shot) also reported:
All Klimbers who use the ropes better have gloves. The snow is soft. We ran out of 'Trail' tape, so I have been using pink 'Road Location' ribbon. But don't panic! There is also some narrow elegant blue ribbon up there. I don't know who put that up, but it is OK to follow.

Gene Filanovsky klimbed up Mt. H'Kusam on June 6th, and shared pictures and this report with Kusam Korrespondent Bill West-Sells. Thanks for the update, Gene, and for allowing us to post your pix!
Had a nice day out yesterday on Kusam. We ended up ascending Lyle's route traversing the summit and then descending down to your trail via the long narrow gulley below the summit. Quite a nice day, not too strenuous, and really no technical difficulties. We thought the overall route was excellent, especially given the ease of access. To bad about the weather as you can see from the pictures.
There are two photos at the end taken from the junction point of your trail and the traverse to Kusam's summit, the first looking up toward the col, the next looking downward. Unfortunately the snow pack there is still quite thick. Descent from the col will likely be treacherous for the racers. Snow peters out around 1100m.
(Don't worry... There will be hundreds of meters of rope strung up to give you something to hold onto over whatever snow is still there on Klimb day!)

Are we going to get ANY sunshine before Klimb Day? The forecast sure isn't looking good for this coming week. And here's what Kusam Korrespondent Kim Skogan found when she journeyed up the Mountain on the Victoria Day weekend.

What a beautiful view! No snow over there!

It's not too bad here...

Getting a little deeper...

And deeper still...

That's going to be slippery!

Let's get back on the trail. Wait... where IS the trail??

With just five weeks to go 'til the Kusam Klimb, the big question being asked is: "Will there be snow for this year's Klimb?"
On May 13, 2010, Kusam Korrespondent Bill West-Sells journeyed up the mountain to see how things are looking.

There's snow in 'them thar' hills!
"I took this picture a little ways below 2-3 Hut, at about 2600' elevation, on the Stowe trail," Bill reported. "You can see that the snow melted off of the trees but heaped up on the trail itself. Another week and I hope we can get up to 2-3 Hut!"
We hope so, too, Bill!
Smile! You're On...
AdventuresByCamera.com now has Klimb photos available on their Website, including pictures from the starting line, Checkpoint 2/3, and the Finish Line. Take a look!
A portion of all proceeds are donated to the Kusam Klimb. Thanks for your support!
